About PCCC

     Mission

The Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod recognizes five primary areas of its ministry: Corporate Worship, Works of Mercy, Outreach/Evangelism, Growth in Grace, and Participation in the Church-At-Large. With regard to these and other areas of ministry, the Statement of Specific Purpose of the Congregation serves as a motivating principle and as an encouragement to its members and friends to demonstrate their service to God and their desire to communicate the Gospel of Christ to the community.

In accord with our desire to build upon and proclaim the whole counsel of God and to maintain worship services honoring to the Lord, we shall establish a base of prayer for the purposes of:

  1. Encouraging and supporting faithful Christian homes.

  2. Arousing a sustained desire to reach the surrounding communities with the Gospel.

  3. Reaching and ministering to the growing community of retirees.

Property

Attractive 3600 square foot building consisting of a worship room, church parlor, several classrooms, kitchen and pastor's office. The property sits on several acres in a strategic area of the mid-Cape. It is located at the junction of two major highways very near to the Cape Cod Community College and the Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Arts. The building was constructed as the first phase of a plan with the sanctuary to be added later.

History and Polity

The PCCC was founded in 1974 as a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The OPC is a denomination in the Christian Family committed to the authenticity of Scripture, Biblical worship and global missions.

The PCCC is a confessional church. As such we hold to the classic statements of Presbyterian theology found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We believe that these standards contain carefully worded summaries of the contents of Scripture.

     Doctrine and Belief

The Confessions adopt a theology that may be defined as catholic (universal), evangelical and reformed.

Its theology is "catholic" in that it reaffirms the doctrines of historic Christianity such as those defined in the Apostles' Creed and the great ecumenical councils of the first millennium of Christian history such as the Councils of Nicea, Constantinople and others. These universal doctrines include such affirmations as the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the atonement of Christ and others integral to historic Christianity.

The theology is "evangelical" in that it affirms with historic Protestantism such vital doctrines as Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide

The theology is reformed in that, the distinctive doctrines of the Reformers such as Luther, Calvin, and Knox are embraced. Reformed theology places emphasis on the doctrine of God, central to the whole of its theology. In a word, Reformed theology is God-centered. The structure of the biblical covenant of grace is the frame for these beliefs and the concept of God's grace is the core of this theology.

The Reformed Tradition

The "Solas" of the Protestant Reformation

  • Sola Scriptura - The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

  • Sola Fide - Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

  • Sola Christus - Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.

  • Sola Gratia - Our salvation rests solely on the work of God's grace for us and in us.

  • Soli Deo Gloria - To God alone belongs the glory.

The Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod seeks to reflect and recapture historic and classical worship. We see worship as an act of offering thanksgiving and praise to God. It is a priority to worship God according to His will, not according to what may be popular in a particular time and culture. Central to our worship is the proclamation of the Word of God by way of biblical exposition and timely application.

Worship

When we come to worship, we cross the threshold of the secular to the sacred, from the common to the uncommon, from the profane to the holy.

We believe that we should worship as God's Word instructs us. In worship, we preach the Word of God, and we pray according to the Word of God; we sing hymns according to the Word of God; and we pray according to the Word of God. Our worship is simple, spiritual and reverent. Our goal is for excellence in our music in order to reflect the holiness and majesty of the Lord and we are challenged to improve on what we are presently able to do for His sake.

We presently provide our morning worship in English and an evening service in Portuguese.

We also offer a Sunday morning Christian Education program for children and adults and a Sunday evening Bible study in English for adults.

Our Invitation

It is our prayer that many other families will join us to share in this distinctive ministry. We cordially encourage you to consider worshipping with us.
